Description For Sr. Internet Development Engineer (Starlink)

SpaceX, founded with the vision of exploring the stars, is seeking a Sr. Internet Development Engineer for their Starlink project. Starlink, the world's largest satellite constellation, provides fast, reliable internet to over 4 million users globally. As part of the Ground Network Engineering team, you'll play a crucial role in expanding and optimizing the network on a global scale.

Your responsibilities will include managing network interconnections, identifying strategic peering partners, coordinating with legal teams on agreements, improving network performance, and assisting in architecting the integration of satellite assets with ground networks.

The ideal candidate should have 5+ years of experience operating global service provider networks, knowledge of BGP routing, and a deep understanding of service provider networks. Strong skills in network automation, familiarity with monitoring systems, and experience with software-defined networking are preferred.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $220,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including medical coverage, 401(k), stock options, and paid time off. The position may require some domestic and global travel, and occasional long hours to support critical project timelines.

Responsibilities For Sr. Internet Development Engineer (Starlink)

  • Manage and expand network interconnections, network co-location sites and points of presence (POPs)
  • Identify strategic peering partners in new and existing markets
  • Coordinate with legal teams to negotiate and sign peering agreements
  • Improve network performance and reliability
  • Assist in negotiating technical aspects of supplier and service provider contracts
  • Assist in coordinating IP transit, public and private peering globally
  • Assist in architecting how Starlink satellite assets will integrate with ground networks

Requirements For Sr. Internet Development Engineer (Starlink)

  • 5+ years of professional hands-on experience operating global service provider, cloud or web-scale networks
  • Experience with public internet exchanges and private peering
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements

  • Willingness to work long hours and occasional weekends when necessary
