SpaceX is seeking a Senior Power Components Engineer to join their Starship electrical hardware development team in Hawthorne, CA. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electromechanical design, with a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals. You'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of power components, from initial design through qualification and integration. This includes performing complex thermal and structural analyses, creating detailed 3D models and production drawings, and leading design reviews with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Sr. Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Design, analyze, fabricate, and qualify high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, power generation, and power distribution components
  • Perform thermal, structural, dynamic, and tolerance analysis using calculations and FEA
  • Create 3D models and production drawings
  • Interface with machine shops and production teams
  • Lead design reviews internally and with suppliers
  • Own hardware delivery timeline from inception through integration
  • Ensure structural designs meet weight and rate targets

Requirements For Sr. Power Components Engineer (Starship)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with mechanical or electromechanical design and analysis
  • Strong first-principles understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Proficient in FEA and CAD
  • Domain knowledge of power component design fundamentals
  • Experience with high volume production designs
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • PCB layout experience
  • Must be willing to travel to Starbase launch facility
  • Must be eligible under ITAR requirements
