Description For Sr. Power Components Engineer (Starship)

SpaceX, a pioneering space technology company, is seeking a Senior Power Components Engineer for their revolutionary Starship program. This role is at the forefront of making humanity multi-planetary, working on advanced electronics for space travel at unprecedented cost and speed.

The position involves leading the design and development of critical power systems for Starship, including high-voltage batteries, traction inverters, and power distribution systems. You'll be responsible for comprehensive analysis, from thermal to structural dynamics, using both traditional calculations and advanced finite element analysis.

As a senior engineer, you'll drive the entire hardware lifecycle, from initial design requirements through to production and integration. The role requires a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, with at least 5 years of relevant experience. Your expertise in power component design fundamentals and manufacturing processes will be crucial for meeting ambitious weight and rate targets.

Working at SpaceX offers unique opportunities to contribute to humanity's space exploration goals while being part of a world-class hardware development team. The company provides competitive compensation ($130,000-$200,000) and comprehensive benefits, including equity opportunities and medical coverage.

The position is based in Brownsville, TX, requiring occasional travel to the Starbase launch facility. This role demands dedication, with potential extended hours during critical project phases. The successful candidate must meet ITAR requirements and be prepared to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment where innovation and problem-solving are essential daily activities.
