Description For Sr. Propulsion Engineer (Merlin Thrust Chamber Assemblies / Turbopumps & Injectors)

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer to join their team working on Merlin engine thrust chamber assemblies, turbopumps, and injectors. This role represents a unique opportunity to contribute to humanity's space exploration goals, including missions to Mars.

The position combines hands-on manufacturing expertise with engineering innovation, requiring you to serve as a subject matter expert in manufacturing processes for critical engine hardware. You'll be directly involved in producing components for the Falcon rockets and Merlin engines, working with various manufacturing processes including machining, welding, metal forming, and advanced mechanical assembly.

As a Sr. Propulsion Engineer, you'll lead multi-disciplinary teams in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The role demands strong technical expertise, with responsibilities ranging from day-to-day production support to strategic process improvements and design recommendations.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of mechanical design or manufacturing experience, with a bachelor's degree in a STEM field. Advanced knowledge in aerospace welding, non-destructive testing, and metallurgical evaluation is highly valued. This position offers competitive compensation ($125,000-$175,000) and comprehensive benefits, including equity opportunities and health coverage.

This role is perfect for someone passionate about space exploration, comfortable with hands-on work, and ready to contribute to groundbreaking aerospace achievements. You'll be working in a dynamic environment where your decisions directly impact the success of missions delivering satellites to orbit and humans to the International Space Station. The position requires ITAR compliance and may involve long hours, but offers the unique opportunity to be part of humanity's journey to becoming a multi-planetary species.
