Description For Sr. Radiation Effects Engineer

SpaceX, a pioneering space exploration company, is seeking a Senior Radiation Effects Engineer to join their mission of enabling human life on Mars. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability of avionics hardware across SpaceX's fleet of vehicles, including Dragon, Falcon, and Starship, in challenging radiation environments.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of space technology and radiation physics, where you'll be responsible for comprehensive analysis, design, and testing at various hardware levels. As a key member of the Radiation Effects team, you'll collaborate with multiple departments, from design to mission operations, contributing directly to SpaceX's goals of advancing broadband satellite internet and making space access more accessible.

The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in radiation effects, with at least 5 years of experience and a solid foundation in electrical engineering or physics. Your work will involve using advanced simulation tools, conducting detailed analyses, and ensuring compliance with radiation safety requirements. The role offers competitive compensation ($130,000-$200,000) and comprehensive benefits, including equity opportunities and medical coverage.

This position is perfect for someone passionate about space exploration who wants to play a crucial role in developing technologies that will help establish a human presence on the Moon and Mars. You'll be working with cutting-edge technology and contributing to some of the most ambitious space projects of our time. The role requires ITAR compliance and may involve extended hours during critical mission phases, but offers the unique opportunity to be part of humanity's next giant leap into space.
