Responsibilities For Sr. Tooling Engineer, Plastic Injection Molding (Starlink)

  • Lead development of new plastic injection tooling projects
  • Lead and refine design for manufacturing process
  • Research and identify new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finish options
  • Inform estimations of prototype and production manufacturing costs
  • Participate in supplier audits and final supplier selection
  • Write prototype/development tooling request for quotes (RFQs)
  • Publish and maintain live master tooling schedule
  • Review DFM from supplier, including gating strategy, Moldflow, and Mold Warp analysis
  • Review and approve prototype/development tool designs and maintenance procedures
  • Track suppliers' weekly build progress
  • Direct tooling modifications and approve TF parts, FAI reports, and PPAP reports

Requirements For Sr. Tooling Engineer, Plastic Injection Molding (Starlink)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, materials engineering or other engineering discipline; or 10+ years of professional experience in mold design or mold making
  • 5+ years of experience in direct hands-on injection mold design and/or injection mold construction
  • Must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee due to ITAR requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs unassisted
  • Willingness to travel ~50% of the time including international
  • Willingness to work long hours and weekends as necessary
