Description For Software Engineer

Spalding Consulting, Inc., a trusted DoD contractor since 2001, is seeking a Software Engineer for a remote position based near Patuxent River, MD. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale transactional web applications using C#/.NET and Adobe ColdFusion technologies.

The position combines modern development practices with defense sector work, requiring expertise in cloud services, database management, and software development lifecycle processes. The role involves working with a collaborative team using Agile/SCRUM methodologies and contributing to significant modernization efforts, including cloud migration and microservices architecture.

The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $90,000 to $125,000, complemented by comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k), and stock options. The position offers excellent work-life balance with flexible scheduling and maximized telework opportunities.

Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, strong backend development skills, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance. Responsibilities For Software Engineer

  • Work as part of a software development team to assist in design, development, testing, and implementation of large transactional web applications
  • Perform all steps of the software development lifecycle and participate in peer reviews
  • Participate in SCRUM, customer, and planning meetings
  • Contribute to Alternative of Analysis (AoA) software research and recommendations
  • Review existing legacy application code for re-usability and customization
  • Contribute to decision briefs for presentation to functional owner
  • Use GitLab to maintain source control and deploy code through CI/CD pipeline
  • Provide documentation for test plans and participate in unit testing
  • Maintain STIG documentation

Requirements For Software Engineer

JavaScript
  • Experience with Adobe Cold Fusion and/or C# .Net Skills
  • Familiarity with transactional database and ability to write SQL
  • Practical cloud experience and familiarity with Cloud services
  • BS/BA degree and 3 years related experience OR AA/AS degree and 7 years related experience OR HS and 9 years related experience
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Must have an active Secret clearance to start
  • US Citizenship required
