As a Service Engineer, you'll join the Operations group, serving as a crucial Tier 3 support specialist handling complex technical issues and managing field service dispatches.

The role combines technical expertise with customer service excellence, requiring you to bridge the gap between support teams and engineering while solving challenging problems. You'll work with both technically-minded installers and non-technical homeowners, requiring adaptable communication skills and deep technical knowledge.

Your responsibilities include responding to escalated issues within SLA timeframes, using advanced troubleshooting tools like SSH and CLI, creating scripts for database queries, and contributing to technical documentation. You'll need to think systematically, analyze data patterns, and drive continuous improvement in processes and tools.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $140,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Service Engineer

  • Respond to issues escalated from Tier 1 and 2 within SLA timeframes
  • Coordinate issue resolution with support, engineering, customers, and installers
  • Use SSH, CLI, and non-GUI product access paths for advanced troubleshooting
  • Create and run basic scripts for product and database queries
  • Build and document technical knowledge of products
  • Contribute to troubleshooting documentation
  • Coordinate with team to meet coverage targets
  • Participate in feedback loops with Engineering and Customer Support

Requirements For Service Engineer

Linux
  • 2+ years of experience as a service engineer or product support engineer
  • Experience with ticketing tools (Zendesk, JIRA, Salesforce)
  • Experience troubleshooting networking issues and IoT devices
  • Strong problem-solving abilities for complex technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Detail-oriented and organized with reliable work ethic
  • Based in San Francisco office at least 3 days a week
  • Experience with Linux systems and SQL (preferred)
  • Understanding of solar, residential energy storage, and power electronics (preferred)
