Spara is building the ideal buying experience with an AI-native workflow orchestration layer. We're seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and implement our core products, including a proprietary AI engine, buyer interfaces, sales team workflow orchestration platform, and ML model pipeline. You'll collaborate with co-founders and VP of Software Engineering to define and deliver on the software development roadmap, stay up-to-date with AI-native application development trends, and foster a culture of innovation.
Our stack includes Flask, React/Typescript, Vite, tailwind, multiple foundational models (including OpenAI), Pinecone vector store, Langchain, and Google Cloud. We've raised a $4.5M seed round from top-tier VCs and AI luminaries.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years experience in large-scale software development
- Strong technical background across the stack
- Experience in early-stage environments
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field
- 3 days per week in our Manhattan office (WFH Fridays)

Responsibilities For Principal Software Engineer
- Design and implement Spara's core products, including a proprietary AI engine, buyer interfaces, sales team workflow orchestration platform, and ML model pipeline
- Collaborate with co-founders and VP of Software Engineering to define and deliver on the software development roadmap
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, especially relating to nascent AI-native application development
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization
- Help mentor other team members
- Report to the VP of Software Engineering
Requirements For Principal Software Engineer
- 8+ years experience architecting and building large-scale software development projects
- Strong technical background and understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and technologies across the stack
- Experience working in a lightweight, early-stage environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3 days per week in our Manhattan-based office
