Backend Engineer - Platform Developer Experience

Spotify, the leading music streaming platform serving 1 Billion customers, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for their Platform Developer Experience (PDX) Studio. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining the Version Control System (VCS) Platform, which is fundamental to Spotify's developer experience.

The position focuses on enhancing the CI infrastructure to support Spotify's massive scale of operations, serving over 3000 engineers performing hundreds of thousands of builds daily. As part of the Platform Developer Experience Studio within the Platform Mission, you'll be responsible for creating systems that enable seamless, efficient, and safe build experiences at scale.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring both hands-on development and mentoring capabilities. You'll be working on critical infrastructure that impacts all engineering disciplines at Spotify, making architectural decisions that affect the entire development ecosystem.

Key technical aspects include working with Java, Kubernetes, and optionally Node.js, focusing on building scalable, automated systems that optimize developer workflow. The position offers the flexibility of hybrid work from the London office, requiring in-person presence three times per week.
