As a Data Engineer in the Financial Engineering team, you will play a meaningful role in curating, producing, and managing core financial data products. These high-quality datasets, derived from ads, content, subscriptions, and partnerships, enable crucial initiatives such as experimentation, forecasting, financial reporting, and financial planning. You will also be instrumental in building a great foundation for our trusted data layer and understanding its distribution channels to better serve our consumers' needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing a deep understanding of how our financial data is used by different consumer bases, tailoring our core data products to meet diverse needs
- Building sources of truth for financial transactions and enriching business decisions with foundational financial context
- Designing, prototyping, and building data pipelines that process billions of data points
- Advocating for and implementing standard processes around data quality and engineering
- Applying product thinking to data: managing the data product lifecycle from sourcing to documentation and exposition, always prioritizing consumers' success and experience
- Partnering with engineers, data scientists, finance and business teams to build flexible and intuitive data products supporting Spotify globally
- Defining data models that serve as interfaces to financial domains for the rest of the company
- Leveraging mentorship and constructive feedback to drive accountability and growth within the team
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience with Data Processing Frameworks like Flink, Beam, Dataflow, or Spark
- Comfort with ambiguity and solving loosely defined problems
- Skills in Cloud-based Environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of Data Modeling
- Passion for clean code and solid foundation in coding and building data pipelines
- Natural curiosity and love for exploring and understanding data
- Comfort working with large datasets using SQL and data analytics platforms like BigQuery
- Excellent collaboration skills and experience building relationships with diverse customers
