SQA Services, a leading provider of managed supplier quality services for almost 30 years, is seeking a Quality Engineer specializing in Space Flight Hardware for their Altadena, CA location. This role represents a unique opportunity in the aerospace industry, offering a 12-month contract position with significant responsibilities in quality assurance and inspection of critical space flight components.

The position demands a highly experienced professional with a minimum of 15 years in manufacturing, assembly, and quality assurance of space flight hardware. The role involves crucial responsibilities such as monitoring contractor controls, performing quality assurance activities during fabrication and testing, and serving as a key authority in Material Review Board and Anomaly Review Board actions.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive NASA certifications, including expertise in standards such as NASA-STD-8739.1 through 8739.4, covering various aspects from surface mount soldering to critical hardware handling. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities For Quality Engineer - Space Flight Hardware

  • Monitor contractor controls and perform quality assurance activities during fabrication, integration, and testing of space flight hardware
  • Evaluate contractor performance and conduct physical verification of quality status
  • Serve as voting and approval authority for Material Review Board and Anomaly Review Board actions
  • Ensure flight hardware and software anomalies documentation
  • Identify and communicate potential risks
  • Satisfy mandatory flight hardware inspection requirements
  • Collaborate with on-site personnel for program performance monitoring

Requirements For Quality Engineer - Space Flight Hardware

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or quality assurance of space flight hardware
  • Extensive knowledge of supplier quality management operations
  • NASA certifications in various standards (8739.1, 8739.2, 8739.3, 8739.4, ANSI/ESD 20.20, 8719.9)
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to pass a background check
