Description For Staff Software Engineer - Stats and Analytics

StackAdapt, the #1 performing programmatic advertising platform, is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead their growing backend engineering team. This role is part of the Stats & Analytics team, responsible for managing the end-to-end data lifecycle for StackAdapt's real-time advertising bidding system, which handles over 3,000,000 requests per second and stores several terabytes of data daily.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll work with a team focused on building StackAdapt's stats and analytics offering. You'll architect scalable low-latency backend systems and data pipelines, lead and mentor talented engineers, and tackle complex distributed system challenges. The role requires expertise in working with large datasets, real-time analytics services, and experience with technologies like Go, Ruby on Rails, Aerospike, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, RocksDB, Redshift, ScyllaDB, and GraphQL.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Building deep understanding of multiple databases housing petabytes of data
  • Leading and mentoring a team within the backend distributed systems team
  • Promoting software development best-practices and conducting rigorous code reviews
  • Solving technical challenges and conducting interviews for potential candidates
  • Balancing and prioritizing projects to maximize efficiency

The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of software development experience in distributed systems, 1 year of leadership experience, and a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals. Experience with Go and high-performance databases is a plus.
