Description For Product Engineer

Stainless is an innovative tech startup revolutionizing the API landscape, backed by top investors including Sequoia. Founded in 2022, they're on a mission to combine the best of GraphQL and gRPC with REST's simplicity. The company, currently 15-20 people strong and primarily based in NYC, is looking to expand significantly over the next three years.

As a Product Engineer on the Web Apps team, you'll be at the forefront of shaping Stainless's self-serve product. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the SDK Studio and public API, taking ownership of feature development from design to implementation. You'll be crafting LLM-powered tools, building public APIs, and directly influencing the platform's direction.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience with modern web technologies, particularly TypeScript and React, and possess excellent product sensibility. You'll be working in a fast-paced environment alongside industry veterans, including founder Alex Rattray, who created Stripe's API client library codegen system.

This role stands out for several reasons:

  • You'll be an early team member with significant impact on product direction
  • The opportunity to work with cutting-edge API technologies
  • Direct interaction with customers including industry leaders like OpenAI and Cloudflare
  • Comprehensive benefits package including competitive compensation, equity, and healthcare
  • Collaborative in-person work environment in NYC's SoHo area

The position offers both technical challenges and business impact, making it ideal for someone passionate about developer experience and API technologies. You'll be instrumental in building tools that help companies deliver Stripe-quality developer experiences around their APIs.
