Backend Engineer

Stream is a high-growth startup that powers chat for many large apps like Strava, Nextdoor, Patreon, IBM, Adobe, and Midjourney. We use Go for our video SFU & chat API, along with CockroachDB/Postgres, RocksDB, Raft, and Redis. We offer a 10-week internal onboarding program focused on Go and scalability, making it an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers to learn and grow.

We're looking for backend engineers with at least 4 years of experience, preferably with knowledge in 2 out of 3 areas: Go, scalability/database/Redis, or SDK development. Additional skills like AWS, Python, Rust, message queues, full-text search, or WebRTC are a plus.

Our hybrid policy requires applicants based in the Netherlands (within 60km of the office) to work in the Amsterdam office 3 times per week, with possible exemptions.

We offer competitive salaries ranging from €70,000 to €160,000 EUR depending on seniority and location, along with excellent benefits including equity, pension scheme, learning budget, and more.
