Description For Lightspeed Customer Solution Engineer

Telesat, a leading global satellite operator, is seeking a Lightspeed Customer Solution Engineer to join their Global Sales Engineering (GSE) Group. This role supports the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and Telesat's global presence, focusing on the revolutionary Telesat Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network. The ideal candidate will design cost-effective satellite and terrestrial communication link solutions, gather customer requirements, and present solutions to customers. They will work closely with the Global Sales Team, offer technology recommendations, perform modeling and simulations, and conduct test and evaluation demonstrations. This position requires a strong technical background in satellite communications, networking technologies, and system engineering, with a focus on customer satisfaction and driving sales. The role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and a willingness to travel for customer meetings and events across the region. Responsibilities For Lightspeed Customer Solution Engineer

  • Design, estimate cost, and propose Lightspeed communications solutions based on customer requirements
  • Work directly with the Global Sales Team and prospective customers' Engineering contacts to validate requirements and technical details
  • Prepare, present proposals to, and review requirements directly with customers
  • Lead, attend, and actively participate in customer meetings
  • Identify new solutions within Telesat's Lightspeed product portfolio which could lead to new revenue opportunities with customers
  • Work directly with customers to plan upgrades, review performance of networks, and to resolve service issues
  • Collaborate with Telesat's Marketing and Product teams to identify available network capacity
  • Support projects from design to implementation
  • Update and maintain multiple databases as well as other Engineering information management systems
  • Actively participate in trade shows, customer events, and technical demonstrations in presentation roles

Requirements For Lightspeed Customer Solution Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Networking, Cloud, or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or connectivity solutions
  • Experience with satellite communications, RF link analysis, and RF hardware preferred
  • Fluent English is required and a second language is highly desirable (written and/or spoken)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to attend customer meetings and events across the region
  • Working knowledge of MEF 3.0 standards and implementations
  • Working knowledge of OSI Layer 1 (Optical, HFC, WDM)
  • Working knowledge of OSI Layer 2 & 3 (Switching, STP, VLAN, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, IP, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Protocol acceleration, web caching, traffic management, firewalls, VPN, and security related hardware and software
  • Working knowledge of 3G/4G/5G cellular networking technologies
  • Working knowledge of Network management platforms (SolarWinds, WhatsUp Gold, etc.)
  • Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/ENT preferable
  • Experience and understanding of computer hardware, software, and operating systems
  • Previous experience supporting Carrier, Mobile Network Operator (MNO), and Wholesale accounts. Working for a Carrier or an MNO would be desired
