Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining the core platform for scientists and engineers
- Delivering new features and enhancements to the Transforms platform
- Writing backend web services in TypeScript
- Designing and implementing software solutions
- Participating in code reviews and following best practices
- Supporting other teams in developing and operating Transform-based solutions
- Assisting with platform migrations and monitoring system reliability

Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 1-3 years of software engineering experience, focusing on backend web services
- Experience with statically-typed programming languages (TypeScript, Java, Rust, or Go)
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
- Familiarity with relational database design and operations

Preferred qualifications include experience with container orchestration, cloud technologies (GCP, AWS), and CI/CD pipelines.

Tempus is seeking a highly motivated bioinformatics software engineer focused on software and algorithm development. This role requires experience with scientific programming, relational data systems, and algorithms development. The ideal candidate will have experience deploying bioinformatics code within a clinical setting and extensive experience with genomics data.

Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring robust CI/CD patterns for clinical software and performing software verification
- Developing software for scientists and engineers to access, analyze, and visualize bioinformatics data
- Ensuring high-quality analysis through testing and verification of clinical pipelines and software
- Developing tools to streamline scientific data usage across teams and applications
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to design and maintain systems supporting medical devices and clinical pipelines
- Translating research into clinically actionable insights for clients
- Producing detailed documentation for all projects

Required Experience:
- 2+ years experience in bioinformatics analysis or software engineering OR an advanced degree in a scientific or computationally related field
- Python programming
- Experience with databases: SQL or BigQuery
- Experience with software containers, e.g., Docker
