Tempus is revolutionizing healthcare through its proprietary platform that leverages real-world evidence for precision medicine. We're seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to join our Digital Pathology Data Science team, where you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge AI models for healthcare applications.

In this role, you'll work on designing and implementing sophisticated machine learning models for analyzing digital pathology images, with direct impact on patient care and clinical workflows. You'll be handling large-scale pathology datasets, ensuring data quality, and deploying solutions that make a real difference in healthcare delivery.

The position offers an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team of experts, including pathologists, biologists, and engineers. You'll be involved in groundbreaking work on biomarker discovery using histopathology and spatial omics data, contributing to patient stratification and companion diagnostic efforts.

We're looking for candidates with strong academic backgrounds (Ph.D. or MS with experience) in Computer Science, AI, or related fields. Experience with Python, PyTorch/Tensorflow, and a track record of publications or patents in the field are highly valued.

Responsibilities For Machine Learning Scientist

  • Design, train, and validate machine learning models for analyzing digital pathology images
  • Validate ML/AI algorithms analytically and/or clinically, and deploy them into production
  • Work with large-scale pathology datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team including pathologists, biologists, statisticians
  • Stay updated on latest advancements in AI, machine learning, digital pathology
  • Assist in identifying biomarkers from histopathology and spatial omics data

Requirements For Machine Learning Scientist

Python
  • Ph.D. or MS with 2+ years of working experience in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field
  • Solid knowledge of machine learning concepts including deep learning, optimization algorithms
  • Experience in developing imaging AI models (ViT, CNNs, Unet)
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch / Tensorflow
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities
  • Track record in publications, patents, and/or launched products
