Description For Machine Learning Scientist

Tempus is revolutionizing healthcare through its proprietary AI-powered precision medicine platform. We're seeking a Machine Learning Scientist to join our Digital Pathology Data Science team, where you'll be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge AI models that directly impact patient care.

In this role, you'll work with state-of-the-art technology to analyze digital pathology images and develop sophisticated machine learning models for biomarker discovery and outcomes prediction. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with pathologists, biologists, and engineers to transform healthcare through AI innovation.

The position offers an opportunity to work with large-scale pathology datasets and implement advanced AI architectures like ViT, CNNs, and Unet. You'll be involved in the complete ML lifecycle, from data curation to model deployment, while working on challenging problems in healthcare and precision medicine.

Responsibilities For Machine Learning Scientist

  • Design, train, and validate machine learning models for analyzing digital pathology images
  • Validate ML/AI algorithms analytically and/or clinically, and deploy them into production
  • Work with large-scale pathology datasets, ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pathologists, biologists, and engineers
  • Stay updated on latest AI advancements and identify new opportunities
  • Assist in identifying biomarkers from histopathology and spatial omics data

Requirements For Machine Learning Scientist

Python
  • Ph.D. or MS with 2+ years experience in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning concepts including deep learning and optimization algorithms
  • Experience in developing imaging AI models (ViT, CNNs, Unet)
  • Proficiency in Python and PyTorch/Tensorflow
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities
  • Track record in publications, patents, and/or launched products
  • Experience with histopathology images and molecular sequencing data (preferred)
  • Experience with foundation models (preferred)
