Description For Lead FPGA Design Engineer

Terran Orbital, a pioneer in satellite technology and manufacturing, is seeking a Lead FPGA Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead the development of cutting-edge FPGA solutions for satellite systems while managing a team of talented developers.

The position reports to the Vice President of Components and Modules and involves designing, implementing, and optimizing FPGA solutions for satellite bus platforms. As a leader in this role, you'll be responsible for guiding a team of developers in design, analysis, and verification of FPGA within the Components and Modules group.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in FPGA design and firmware development, with expertise in various programming languages and tools including System-Verilog, Verilog, and C/C++. You'll work with state-of-the-art technology from Xilinx/AMD and MicroSemi/Microchip, contributing to the advancement of satellite technology.

This role offers competitive compensation ranging from $150,000 to $200,000, along with comprehensive benefits including full medical coverage, 401(k) matching, and equity. Responsibilities For Lead FPGA Design Engineer

  • Lead the design, development, and verification of FPGA-based solutions
  • Work with systems, hardware, and software teams to define requirements and specifications
  • Participate in customer meetings and coordinate with other Functional Managers
  • Track deliverables and present design and progress reviews
  • Lead small teams of engineers in FPGA development
  • Analyze requirements and create project scope and milestones
  • Identify opportunities for new development improvements

Requirements For Lead FPGA Design Engineer

  • BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 12+ years experience or Graduate Degree with 8+ years firmware experience
  • Experience with System-Verilog, Verilog, C/C++, MatLab/Simulink
  • Experience with Xilinx/AMD and MicroSemi/Microchip part families
  • Experience with standard lab equipment
  • Experience in digital telemetry, signal processing, and encryption technology
  • Must be eligible for US security clearance
  • Must be US citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for US Department of State authorizations
