Description For Sr. FPGA Design Engineer

Terran Orbital, a pioneering leader in satellite manufacturing and space technology, is seeking a Senior FPGA Design Engineer to join their innovative team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of satellite technology, focusing on the design and implementation of FPGA solutions for advanced mission constellations.

The position reports to the Vice President of Components and Modules and plays a crucial role in developing FPGA solutions within various subsystems of their Satellite bus platforms. As a Sr. FPGA Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of FPGA-based solutions, from design and implementation to optimization and verification.

The role offers a competitive salary range of $130,000-$160,000, along with comprehensive benefits including 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, equity participation, 401(k) matching, and flexible time off. The position is based in Irvine, California, at their professional office environment within their manufacturing facility.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in customer meetings, tracking deliverables, and identifying opportunities for ground segment capability improvements. The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of firmware development experience, strong expertise in System-Verilog, Verilog, and C/C++, and experience with various FPGA platforms and lab equipment.

Responsibilities For Sr. FPGA Design Engineer

  • Design, development, and verification of FPGA-based solutions
  • Work with systems, hardware, and software teams to define requirements and specifications
  • Participate in customer meetings and coordinate with team leads
  • Track deliverables and present design and progress reviews
  • Analyze requirements and create project scope and milestones
  • Identify opportunities for new development to improve ground segment capabilities

Requirements For Sr. FPGA Design Engineer

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • 5+ years of professional experience with firmware development
  • Experience with System-Verilog, Verilog, C/C++, MatLab / Simulink
  • Experience with Xilinx/AMD and MicroSemi/Microchip part families
  • Experience with standard lab equipment
  • Experience in digital telemetry, signal processing, and encryption technology
  • Ability to travel as necessary
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
