Tesla's Abuse Testing & Engineering group is seeking a Battery Abuse Manager to lead a dynamic team focused on pushing battery systems to their limits. This role combines technical excellence with people management, overseeing a team of engineers and technicians in designing custom test equipment, facilities, and data tools. The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers a competitive salary range of $96,000 - $228,000 annually.
The role involves managing approximately 10 engineers and technicians, overseeing critical facilities upgrades, and maintaining strong relationships with internal customers. You'll be responsible for abuse data tools implementation using various technologies including SQL, Python, React, and JavaScript. The position requires a strong focus on safety, given the destructive nature of abuse tests.
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of laboratory experience, a bachelor's degree in engineering, and demonstrated leadership abilities. Responsibilities For Battery Abuse Manager, Test Systems
- Manage team of ~10 engineers and technicians
- Oversee concurrent facilities upgrades to Bay Area labs
- Manage abuse test equipment and facilities including resource planning
- Oversee abuse data tools including custom database and data processing
- Develop and maintain charging systems for cells, modules, and packs
- Support test operations team on equipment issues
- Serve as advocate for lab safety
- Maintain lab professionalism and cleanliness
- Ensure rigorous documentation of equipment and processes
Requirements For Battery Abuse Manager, Test Systems
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering field
- 5+ years experience in a lab environment with mechanical and electrical issues
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to overcome technical challenges
