Tesla's Chassis Systems Team is seeking a Brakes Software Integration Engineer to join their innovative automotive engineering team. This role is critical in developing and implementing safety-critical brake systems essential for vehicle control and autonomous driving capabilities.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of traditional automotive engineering and cutting-edge software development. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams across mechanical, electrical, systems, and software disciplines, while also interfacing with global teams in North America, Europe, and Asia.

As a Brakes Software Integration Engineer, you'll be responsible for the entire software lifecycle of brake systems, from requirements definition to production implementation. The role demands a versatile skill set, combining technical expertise in automotive systems with software development capabilities. You'll work with various stakeholders, including Self-Driving, Drive Motors, and Low-Voltage teams, as well as external suppliers.

Responsibilities For Brakes Software Integration Engineer, Chassis Systems

  • Own brake system components, firmware, and feature roadmaps
  • Define system and component level software requirements and test criteria
  • Implement interfaces, prototype vehicle software, test in-vehicle
  • Investigate improvements in latencies, accuracy, control smoothness, uptime and reliability
  • Perform safety analyses and audit supplier safety posture
  • Lead firmware development and release readiness reviews

Requirements For Brakes Software Integration Engineer, Chassis Systems

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Relevant domain experience in brake systems, chassis systems, supplier management
  • Experience with networked micro-controllers, CAN or other vehicle networking protocols
  • Knowledge of version control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins)
  • Experience in developing safety-critical or mission-critical software
  • Experience in software fundamentals including software design and maintainability
