Tesla is seeking a Cell Lifetime Modeling Engineer for their Semi program. As a member of the Cell Modeling team, you will develop and maintain cell lifetime models to predict aging characteristics based on test data and electrochemistry knowledge. Your primary focus will be supporting cell modeling for the Tesla Semi program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advancing Tesla's cell lifetime models capabilities
- Processing test data and optimizing model parameters to predict cell lifetime in various scenarios
- Analyzing test results to provide insights on cell degradation mechanisms
- Translating degradation mechanisms into mathematical representations
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
- Strong background in numerical methods, especially optimization and numerical solutions of ODEs and PDEs
- 3+ years' experience in developing empirical or physics-based models of dynamic systems, preferably in lithium-ion batteries with aging mechanisms
- Hands-on experience processing large datasets
- Strong programming skills with 3+ years' experience in MATLAB, Python, etc.
- Experience with lithium-ion batteries and knowledge of degradation mechanisms causing energy loss and power fade
- Strong communication skills and preference for working in teams
