Description For Craftsmanship Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Craftsmanship Engineer to join their team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is crucial in ensuring the highest quality standards for Tesla's vehicles through meticulous attention to design and user experience. The Craftsmanship team plays a vital role in working with Product Management, Design Studio, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to deliver world-class vehicles.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $92,720 - $206,520 annually, along with comprehensive benefits including 401(k) with employer match, parental support programs, and various insurance options. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with at least 2 years of automotive Craftsmanship or Perceived Quality experience.

As a Craftsmanship Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring that Tesla products meet the highest standards of quality perception through sight, touch, sound, and scent. You'll work closely with various teams throughout the product development cycle, from early concept stages to final production.

Key responsibilities include developing and owning Craftsmanship attribute deliverables, benchmarking competitor vehicles, creating gap and flush control documents, and developing verification testing methods. You'll also be instrumental in resolving Craftsmanship issues through data-driven decisions and innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate subjective quality perceptions into quantifiable metrics. Responsibilities For Craftsmanship Engineer

  • Ownership of Craftsmanship attribute deliverables for defined vehicle systems
  • Benchmarking of competitor vehicles and consolidating data
  • Creation and development of gap and flush control documents
  • Creation and development of Craftsmanship sensory targets
  • Representation of Craftsmanship attribute in product design meetings
  • Development of verification testing methods
  • Driving closure of Craftsmanship issues through negotiation
  • Supporting craftsmanship deliverables through development/engineering sign-off
  • Supporting quality functions to ensure targets are measurable

Requirements For Craftsmanship Engineer
