Electrical Design Engineer

Tesla's Battery Electronics team is seeking experienced Electrical Design Engineers (Sr., Staff, & Sr. Staff levels) to lead the design of high-voltage battery management PCBAs for their newest vehicles, including the Robotaxi and next-generation mass market platforms, Roadster, Semi, Cybertruck, as well as their established SX3Y lineup, residential and industrial energy storage solutions.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional hands-on Engineer with strong electrical engineering fundamentals, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, relishes tackling hard engineering challenges, and is passionate about advancing Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

In this role, you will:

• Lead end-to-end PCBA design, from initial concept development to scaling for mass production
• Design, prototype, build, and test high-voltage battery management electronics
• Develop highly automated design validation setups and software
• Launch designs to mass production
• Collaborate with Mechanical Design, Firmware Engineering, Test, and Manufacturing teams
• Work with top automotive IC manufacturers to co-develop and integrate new technologies

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of hands-on industry experience in analog and digital circuit design
• Strong analytical, circuit analysis and simulation skills
• Superb failure analysis and PCBA troubleshooting skills
• Solid knowledge of Python for test automation and data analysis
• Experience in battery management systems, power electronics, microcontrollers, and high-speed digital interfaces
• Experience designing RF circuits, antennas, and familiarity with common wireless communication protocols
• Experience using Altium Designer and LTSpice
• Experience using mechanical CAD tools (Fusion360, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks), fast prototyping and 3D printing
