Tesla's Drive Inverter team is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their innovative power electronics division. This role is crucial in designing and developing the power electronics that drive Tesla's electric vehicles, focusing on high-performance traction inverters that deliver hundreds of kilowatts of power from the battery to the motor.

Responsibilities For Electrical Engineer, Inverter, Semi

  • End-to-end ownership of new inverter PCBA designs including specifications, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, board bring up, validation, and overseeing reliability and functional testing
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams (mechanical, firmware, test, reliability etc.) to see products through high volume manufacturing
  • Design and execute high voltage and high current validation of new inverter designs
  • Debug complex component interactions at the vehicle level

Requirements For Electrical Engineer, Inverter, Semi

Python
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Digital and analog circuit design, including high voltage circuits or power supply design
  • Printed circuit board design (Altium) and initial bring-up: debugging, soldering, wiring, mechanical assembly
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware, microcontrollers and their peripherals, python scripting or similar
  • Familiarity with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies
  • Experience with power semiconductors (MOSFETs, IGBTs)
  • Knowledge of electric motors, thermal design, and/or mechanical design
  • Experience with automotive networking (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Basic control theory, including importance of sensor bandwidths, filtering
  • Automation of lab equipment (GPIB/SCPI/VISA)
