Description For Electromechanical Product Design Engineer

Tesla is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Product Design Engineer to join their innovative team working on electrical distribution systems for their vehicle products. This role is part of the Electrical Distribution Mechanical Design Team, which is responsible for reinventing how electronic systems and devices are assembled in Tesla vehicles.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. Recent projects include the 48V distribution system and connectivity in the Cybertruck, demonstrating the team's involvement in Tesla's most innovative products.

As an Electromechanical Product Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing mechanical components, developing novel technologies, and working on manufacturing techniques for electrical connections and vehicle integration. The role requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and the ability to take products through the entire development cycle from design to production.

Responsibilities For Electromechanical Product Design Engineer

  • Design mechanical components and mechanisms related to electrical connections, conductors, assembly aids and vehicle integration parts
  • Develop novel technologies and novel manufacturing techniques
  • Perform thermal/structural modeling of components and systems
  • Build prototypes and perform functional validation in laboratory and prototype vehicles
  • Work with cross functional mechanical engineering and integration teams
  • Work with electrical engineers and PCBA designers to integrate components
  • Work with test and reliability engineers to validate new designs
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to transition concepts to production

Requirements For Electromechanical Product Design Engineer

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering including part design in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes
  • Demonstratable mechanical engineering fundamental knowledge
  • Detail oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, CATIA experience highly valued
  • 10-15% of travel is expected
