Description For Engineering Launch Manager, Semi

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Launch Manager to join their Semi Manufacturing plant in Sparks, Nevada. This leadership role involves managing a team of Engineers and Technicians responsible for equipment and process-related metrics in the manufacturing of Tesla's Semi class 8 vehicle. The position focuses on driving improvements in equipment efficiency and factory yield through documented actions and clear objectives.

The role requires a strong technical background in manufacturing processes, automation, and controls, combined with leadership abilities to manage and develop team performance. The Engineering Launch Manager will be responsible for various Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) functions, ensuring team safety, and driving continuous improvement in operations.

Key responsibilities include defining engineering team expectations, driving improvement activities, innovating processes, maintaining 5S standards, and collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering and Controls teams. The ideal candidate should be adaptable, demonstrate strong communication skills, and be capable of solving complex engineering problems.

Responsibilities For Engineering Launch Manager, Semi

  • Manage a team of Engineers and Technicians responsible for equipment and process metrics
  • Drive improvement in overall equipment efficiency and factory yield
  • Ensure team's safety training is current and document EHS incidents
  • Define expectations for the engineering team to improve manufacturing line performance
  • Innovate processes and procedures to streamline production activities
  • Provide support for new equipment installation, startup, and hand over
  • Improve preventative maintenance activities to decrease overall downtime
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Controls teams
  • Drive engineering problems to true root cause and elimination

Requirements For Engineering Launch Manager, Semi

  • Must understand general manufacturing processes, automation, and controls
  • Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn
  • Must be adaptable in work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift)
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinates
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
