Description For Engineering Program Manager, Megapack

Tesla's Energy Engineering group is seeking a dynamic Engineering Program Manager for their Megapack program. This role combines technical leadership with cross-functional coordination, requiring interaction with design engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, compliance, and field operations teams. Based in the Bay Area with some travel to manufacturing facilities in California or Nevada, this position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation in Tesla's energy storage solutions.

The role involves shepherding projects from concept through prototype validation to production ramp, requiring deep understanding of product and manufacturing requirements. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in managing engineering projects for mass-produced products, strong scheduling and communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously while contributing to organizational improvement.

This position offers competitive compensation ranging from $100,000 to $216,000 annually, plus additional cash and stock awards. Responsibilities For Engineering Program Manager, Megapack

  • Work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations teams to identify and scope projects
  • Manage product cost down and quality improvements
  • Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for design and manufacturing engineering projects
  • Prioritize engineering team's work based on risk, resources and payback
  • Define processes for risk and change management
  • Interface with multiple teams including supply chain, compliance, reliability, and field operations

Requirements For Engineering Program Manager, Megapack

  • Demonstrated experience in management of engineering projects for mass produced products
  • Understanding of engineering product design cycle and product release cycle
  • Experience creating, maintaining and communicating schedules
  • Understanding of multilevel Bill of Material hierarchy
  • Ability to inspire confidence in multiple layers of management
  • Degree in engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience)
  • Cross-functional work experience with engineering, production, and supply chain personnel
