Description For Engineering Technician, Cell Prototyping

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their Cell Prototyping team in Fremont, California. This role is crucial for the development and prototyping of lithium-ion cells, with a focus on pilot-scale processes and operations. The position involves working with cutting-edge battery technology and requires expertise in cell manufacturing processes. As a key member of a cross-functional product development team, you'll be responsible for electrode manufacturing, quality control, and process optimization. Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Cell Prototyping

  • Manage electrode manufacturing processes: mixing, coating, pressing, slitting
  • Operate pilot-scale equipment and follow SOP
  • Handle in-process quality check (IPQC)
  • Conduct coin cell or pouch cell fabrication
  • Perform mechanical and electrical testing metrologies
  • Document analysis data using travelers and process documents
  • Assist in process parameters optimization
  • Troubleshoot process and operation issues

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Cell Prototyping

  • Experience operating pilot-scale equipment
  • Experience working in dry room and/or clean room environment
  • Experience with air-sensitive material and hazardous chemicals
  • Excellent attention to details
  • Experience in cell manufacturing line and roll to roll process (preferred)
  • Great communication skills and teamwork
  • Working knowledge of Windows and MS office
