Tesla is seeking a dedicated Equipment Engineering Technician to join their Cell Engineering team in the Bay Area. This role is crucial for maintaining and optimizing advanced cell manufacturing equipment for Tesla Energy Batteries. The role involves hands-on work with complex mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation, and robotics. As a first-responding problem solver, you'll be responsible for managing machine breakdowns and recoveries. The position requires technical expertise in preventative maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and repair of industrial production equipment.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Equipment, Cell Engineering

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
  • Diagnose equipment failures - root cause and communicate required actions across relevant teams
  • Perform major equipment repairs, rebuilds and installations
  • Collaborate with Process and Equipment Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability
  • Perform Corrective Maintenance (repairs) on equipment
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers
  • Log all work as performed utilizing Tesla CMMS
  • Perform other tasks as instructed by management

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Equipment, Cell Engineering

  • Ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes
  • Experience with Roll to Roll coating, Toll coating, Laminating and slitting
  • Ability to use a Voltmeter and schematic diagram to troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Experience with laser cutting, laser welding, Resistance welding and ultrasonic welding
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings
  • Proficient with pneumatics-solenoid valves, actuator and control operations
  • Proficient with basic hydraulic and vacuum system operations
  • Follow all aspects of maintenance safety protocol
  • Ability to work off-shifts, as needed
