Description For Engineering Technician, Instrumentation & Data Acquisition

Tesla is seeking an Engineering Technician specializing in Instrumentation & Data Acquisition to join their Instrumentation and Imaging Group. This role is crucial for supporting product validation of Tesla's exciting vehicle lineup, including Cybertruck, Semi, and next-generation vehicles. The position offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of electric vehicle technology, combining hands-on technical work with data acquisition and analysis.

The role involves comprehensive responsibilities in vehicle testing and data collection, requiring expertise in installing and maintaining various sensors and data acquisition systems. Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Instrumentation & Data Acquisition

  • Identify, source, and procure required data acquisition and sensors
  • Install sensors and data acquisition hardware on vehicles
  • Set up data acquisition programs and validate sensor connectivity
  • Maintain sensor library and coordinate calibration activities
  • Create daily work plans to achieve test plan goals
  • Design and create custom brackets and fixtures
  • Support testing activities and vehicle preparation
  • Perform onsite support and testing while monitoring data
  • Conduct basic data analysis and data cleanup

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Instrumentation & Data Acquisition

  • Experience with vehicle instrumentation (Accelerometers, Loadcells, Pressure sensors, etc.)
  • Experience with data acquisition systems (DTS, SOMAT, NI, DEWESOFT)
  • Formal electronics training or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to operate various hand and power tools
  • Ability to use diagnostic scan tools and test equipment
  • 3 years of instrumentation and data acquisition experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%
