Tesla's Dojo Supercomputing team is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Technician to bring up systems for research and development. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems in a data center environment, including chillers, power supplies, and other testing equipment. You will also be responsible for building custom fixtures for prototype assemblies and spearheading design iterations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and systems
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical problems using specialized tools
- Fabricating custom R&D fixtures
- Reading and interpreting build plans and technical manuals
- Collaborating with Engineers and other Technicians on equipment modifications
- Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations
- Deploying data acquisition instruments and communicating data results
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A degree in Mechanical Technology, Electronics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong understanding of thermal, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
- Experience with CAD software and other technical tools
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and tools
- Self-starter mentality and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of electrical systems and controls (preferred)
