Tesla's Austin Passive Safety Test team is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their dynamic vehicle testing environment. This role is integral to Tesla's commitment to vehicle safety and innovation, focusing on executing, analyzing, and reporting various tests for vehicle engineering development, regulatory certification, and consumer protection crash testing.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Passive Safety

  • Prepare test vehicles to match desired test configurations
  • Install data acquisition equipment and sensors
  • Installation/removal of vehicle test fixtures, lab equipment, and ballast weights
  • Maintain sensor library, sensor repair, and coordinate calibration activities
  • Design and create custom brackets, wire harnesses and fixtures
  • Setup and deploy high-speed cameras and lighting for test setups
  • Maintain and repair test equipment
  • Maintain laboratory environment
  • Prepare vehicle components for flammability testing
  • Prepare and repair test vehicles for driving and durability tests

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Passive Safety

  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and replacing components on passenger vehicles
  • Ability to operate hand/power tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in tight spaces
  • Work outdoors in Austin temperatures year-round
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Tesla diagnostics tools)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to operate diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Go-getter attitude and desire to build new skills
