Tesla's Austin Passive Safety Test team is seeking an Engineering Technician to join their dynamic team responsible for vehicle engineering development, regulatory certification, and consumer protection crash testing. Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Passive Safety

  • Prepare test vehicles according to test configurations and procedures
  • Install data acquisition equipment and sensors
  • Install/remove vehicle test fixtures, lab equipment, and ballast weights
  • Maintain sensor library and coordinate calibration activities
  • Design and create custom brackets, wire harnesses and fixtures
  • Setup and deploy high-speed cameras and lighting for test setups
  • Maintain and repair test equipment
  • Prepare vehicle components for flammability testing
  • Prepare and repair test vehicles for driving and durability tests

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Passive Safety

  • Experience diagnosing, repairing, and replacing components on passenger vehicles
  • Ability to operate hand/power tools and shop equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in tight spaces
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Tesla diagnostics tools)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience with diagnostic scan tools, scopes, meters
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Fabrication and machine shop skills preferred
