Tesla's Drive Unit Test Team is seeking an Engineering Technician to support the development and testing of cutting-edge powertrain systems for Semi-Trucks. This role combines hands-on technical work with analytical problem-solving, requiring expertise in high voltage systems, mechanical fabrication, and engineering principles.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Semi Truck Drive Unit

  • Conduct visual and functional inspections of Semi-Truck drive units
  • Install drive units on Dynamometers and analyze engineering prototypes
  • Collaborate with test engineers to develop and execute test plans
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues
  • Document test results and inspection findings
  • Maintain lab organization and safety standards
  • Design, fabricate, and modify test fixtures and equipment
  • Support lab expansion and testing activities

Requirements For Engineering Technician, Semi Truck Drive Unit

Python
  • Extensive practical experience in a similar role
  • High Voltage training or knowledge of high voltage DC systems
  • Proficient in mechanical fabrication
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with electronics lab tools
  • Experience with wiring harness design and fabrication
  • Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Experience with LabVIEW or Python is a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
