Description For Engineering Technician, Semi Truck, Low Voltage Distribution

Tesla is seeking a Low Voltage Distribution Engineering Technician to join their Semi Truck program. This role is integral to the development and validation of vehicle connectors and cables, combining hands-on technical work with software development. The position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology at one of the world's leading automotive innovators.

The role involves a diverse set of responsibilities, from electrical debugging and mechanical fixture design to software script development. You'll be working directly with Test, Reliability, and Design Engineers, contributing to the validation process of critical components for Tesla's Semi program. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and has experience with both hardware and software aspects of engineering.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in technical skills, including soldering, custom harness building, and environmental testing. Knowledge of Python programming and experience with various testing equipment and procedures is highly valued. While some advanced skills like SolidWorks, CNC operation, and specific testing equipment experience are preferred, they're not required, making this an excellent opportunity for growth.

Responsibilities For Engineering Technician, Semi Truck, Low Voltage Distribution

  • Work alongside Test/Reliability/Design Engineers to validate vehicle connectors and cables
  • Design, fabricate, assemble, and tear down static/dynamic fixtures
  • Run/document electrical, ingress, and visual checks/data
  • Create and modify python test scripts that interact with DAQs, environmental chambers and Power supplies

  • Soldering experience related to reworking PCBA board
  • Custom harness building experience
  • Ability to manage multiple test priorities and communicate proactively
  • Experience with environmental stress screening (ESS)

  • Collaboration skills with engineers
