Tesla is seeking a Field Reliability Engineer to join their High Voltage Systems team for the Cybertruck program. This role is integral to improving customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues, working collaboratively with various Engineering teams. The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers a competitive salary range of $84,000 - $222,000 annually, plus additional benefits.

The role demands a unique blend of electrical and mechanical engineering expertise, focusing on failure analysis and root cause determination for high-voltage systems. As a Field Reliability Engineer, you'll be responsible for monitoring product performance, conducting detailed failure analyses, and implementing solutions to improve quality and reliability. The position requires hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assemblies and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities include identifying and prioritizing trending issues, performing board-level and system-level debugging, and implementing corrective actions across production, design, and supplier channels. You'll need to effectively communicate field performance data and gather support from engineering peers and leadership for improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical, Power Electronics, Electronics, or Mechatronics, with experience in failure analysis or quality control, preferably in automotive or consumer electronics. Strong technical skills, including proficiency in PCBA troubleshooting and programming languages like Python, are essential.   • Monitor products field performance and identify trending issues
  • Perform detailed failure analysis and identify root-cause of problems
  • Apply mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge for corrective actions
  • Communicate field performance of engineering systems
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities
  • Share lessons learned and provide feedback in design reviews

Requirements For Field Reliability Engineer, High Voltage Systems, Cybertruck

Python
  • Degree in Electrical, Power Electronics, Electronics, Mechatronic, or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in Failure Analysis/Quality/Service in consumer electronics or automotive
  • Ability to navigate software/firmware tools and logs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis skills
  • Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging
  • Experience with statistical methods and tools
  • Programming knowledge in Python, Minitab, JMP or similar
