Description For Field Reliability Engineer, Inverter

Tesla's Field Reliability Engineering team is seeking a hands-on Field Reliability Engineer to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues. This role focuses on the Drive Unit Inverter across Tesla's vehicle lineup including Model S/3/X/Y, Semi, and Cybertruck. The position requires deep technical expertise in electro-mechanical assemblies and involves failure analysis, root cause investigation, and implementing solutions.

The ideal candidate will work at the intersection of electrical engineering and automotive technology, using advanced analytical tools and techniques including electrical debugging, X-Ray analysis, and thermography. Responsibilities For Field Reliability Engineer, Inverter

  • Drive issue resolution from root cause analysis to countermeasure implementation on Drive Unit Inverter issues
  • Perform detailed hands-on failure analysis using analytical tools and techniques
  • Design and conduct experiments on drive units to replicate field failures
  • Analyze and interpret field and diagnostic logs/data to identify commonality on trending issues
  • Monitor product field performance and prioritize work based on severity
  • Provide feedback in design reviews for product performance
  • Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

Requirements For Field Reliability Engineer, Inverter

Python
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in Failure Analysis/Quality/Service in consumer electronics or automotive
  • Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis skills
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Programming knowledge in Python, Minitab, JMP or similar
  • Broad technical background
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
