Tesla's Field Reliability Engineering team is seeking a Field Reliability Engineer for Motor Gearbox to enhance customer experience by reducing field issues across their vehicle lineup including Model S/3/X/Y, Semi, and CyberTruck. This hands-on role focuses on failure analysis and root cause investigation for drive unit motor gearbox systems. Responsibilities For Field Reliability Engineer, Motor Gearbox

  • Drive issue resolution from root cause analysis to countermeasure implementation on electro-mechanical issues
  • Perform detailed hands-on failure analysis using analytical tools and techniques
  • Design and conduct experiments on drive units to replicate field failures
  • Analyze and interpret field and diagnostic logs/data to identify commonality on trending issues
  • Monitor product field performance and identify trending issues
  • Provide feedback in design reviews for product performance
  • Collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

Requirements For Field Reliability Engineer, Motor Gearbox

Python
  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in Failure Analysis, Quality, Service in consumer electronics or automotive
  • Exceptional problem solving and Failure Analysis skills
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Python, Minitab, JMP or similar tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar vehicle (for entry level)
