Description For Field Reliability Engineering Technician

Tesla is seeking a dedicated Field Reliability Engineering Technician to join their Cell Quality and Field Reliability team in Fremont, California. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge electric vehicle technology, specifically focusing on battery cell and module analysis. The position involves hands-on work in lab environments, conducting detailed failure analysis, and contributing to Tesla's quality assurance processes.

The role demands a detail-oriented individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, performing time-sensitive analysis under production pressure. You'll be responsible for examining field return cases, conducting thorough cell inspections, and maintaining precise documentation of findings. The position offers two shift options: Day Shift (6:00AM - 2:30PM) or Night Shift (10:00PM - 6:30AM).

Responsibilities For Field Reliability Engineering Technician

  • Review field return cases to identify reason of return
  • Analyze and interpret cell inspections and analysis data independently
  • Document results of tests in a clear and concise manner
  • Plan, setup, organize and maintain the battery lab space and equipment
  • Perform failure analysis of cells from modules and packs
  • Teardown of various module builds and extraction of cells
  • Provide feedback to vendors on failure modes
  • Conduct both destructive and non-destructive cell analysis
  • Retain confidentiality of testing, test procedures, and data

Requirements For Field Reliability Engineering Technician

  • Comfortable with dynamic work environment and time-sensitive analysis
  • Proven record of time efficient task execution
  • Strong detail orientation and organizational skills
  • Above average manual dexterity and visual acuity
  • Ability to perform hands-on tasks in lab and production environment
  • Strong desire to learn advanced characterization techniques
