Description For Fleet Root Causing Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Fleet Root Causing Engineer to join their team in improving customer experience across their vehicle lineup. This role focuses on identifying, analyzing, and resolving issues affecting various vehicle systems including Exteriors, Interiors, Lights, Body, and more. The position requires a hands-on approach to failure analysis and root cause activities, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring field performance, conducting detailed failure analyses, and implementing corrective actions across production, design, and supplier channels. They will work with multiple Tesla Engineering Teams, International Production Teams, and Service Teams to drive resolution of complex technical challenges.

This role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $80,000 to $156,000 annually, plus additional benefits including comprehensive healthcare, 401(k) with employer match, and stock purchase options. The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge electric vehicle technology across Tesla's entire product line, including Model S/X/3/Y, Cybertruck, and Semi.

Requirements For Fleet Root Causing Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Outstanding mastery of engineering and physics fundamentals
  • Passion for Tesla's mission, root causing, and bug fixing
  • Track record of repairing, tinkering and experimenting
  • Broad technical background
  • Exceptional problem solving and failure analysis skills
  • Ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers
