Description For Internship, Battery Engineering (Summer 2025)

Tesla is seeking passionate engineering interns for their Battery Engineering team, offering a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy storage solutions for both vehicles and grid applications. This internship, starting in May 2025, provides hands-on experience in battery pack design, modeling, and materials development. Working directly with full-time engineers, interns will contribute to critical projects involving high voltage conductors, advanced cooling systems, cell interfaces, and battery enclosures. The position is based in multiple possible locations including Palo Alto, CA and Austin, TX, requiring full-time, on-site commitment for a minimum of 12 weeks. This role is perfect for students pursuing Mechanical Engineering degrees who are passionate about sustainable energy and want to contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.   • Design, prototype, test and launch new battery parts and processes
  • Work on high voltage conductors

Requirements For Internship, Battery Engineering (Summer 2025)

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX, Fusion360, SolidWorks, CATIA)
  • Experience in STARCCM+, COMSOL, MATLAB, Simulink, Ansys
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals
  • Familiarity with HV battery systems
  • Previous lab R&D experience
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Experience with polymer materials and adhesives testing (desired)
