Tesla is offering an exciting internship opportunity for the Summer of 2025 in their Vehicle Software organization, specifically focusing on Body Controls Systems Integration Engineering. This role represents a unique chance to work with cutting-edge automotive technology at one of the world's leading electric vehicle manufacturers.

The position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and requires a minimum commitment of 12 weeks, working full-time and on-site. As an intern, you'll be deeply involved in the design and development of body controls systems, working alongside various cross-functional teams. The role combines hardware, software, and system design fundamentals, with a particular focus on software development.

You'll be responsible for critical vehicle systems including doors, trunk, frunk, windows, seating, lighting, mirrors, wipers, heaters, and steering wheel controls. The position offers hands-on experience in software architecture design, system integration, and prototype development. You'll work with technologies like C++, Python, and various automotive communication protocols such as CAN and LIN.

The compensation is competitive, ranging from $36.06 to $50.48 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance with $0 payroll deduction options, 401(k), and various other perks.   • Distill vehicle product requirements into actionable software requirements
  • Lead software architecture design of body controls products and features
  • Define system hardware and software interfaces
  • Bring-up and debug early software and hardware prototypes
  • Support validation teams in developing test plans
  • Perform field data analytics to improve design and performance
  • Perform DFMEA and HARA for body controls systems
  • Serve as a system leader for cross-functional teams
  • Debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment

Requirements For Internship, Body Controls Systems Integration Engineer, Vehicle Firmware (Summer 2025)

Python
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Expected graduation date between August 2025-August 2026
  • Strong C/C++ comprehension
  • Experience with Python programming
  • Comfortable with Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Experience in hands-on debugging complex subsystems
  • Comfortable analyzing data to improve system design and performance
  • Understanding of hardware and software development processes
