Description For Internship, Electrical & Computer Engineer, Vehicle Hardware (Winter/Spring 2025)

Tesla is offering an exciting internship opportunity for Electrical & Computer Engineers in Vehicle Hardware for Winter/Spring 2025. This internship is part of Tesla's year-round program designed to develop emerging talent. Interns will work closely with their Manager, Mentor, and team on critical projects, gaining valuable experience in the automotive and technology sectors.

The internship spans various teams within Vehicle Hardware Engineering, including Autopilot Hardware, Display, Low Voltage Architecture and Circuitry, Low Voltage Hardware, Electronic Systems Design and Integration, Low Voltage Electronics Automation & Test, Low Voltage Test (ICT), Electronic Systems Infotainment, and Sensing teams.

Interns will be involved in designing complex high-speed boards, working on LCD/OLED display systems, developing the "nervous system" for Tesla products, designing and validating low voltage electronics systems, and more. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge automotive technology and contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy.

The internship requires a minimum commitment of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week), and on-site. Multiple locations are possible, including Fremont, CA; Palo Alto, CA; and Austin, TX. International students should consult their school regarding work authorization before applying.

Candidates should be pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience with analog and digital circuit design, PCB component selection, and programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, and C/C++ is desired. Strong organization and communication skills are essential.

  • Design complex, high-speed boards for autonomous driving capability
  • Work on LCD/OLED display electronic systems
  • Design the 'nervous system' for Tesla products
  • Design and validate low voltage electronics systems
  • Develop test software for Tesla-designed circuit boards
  • Design, simulate, implement, and debug systems and circuits for Infotainment systems
  • Architect ADAS sensor products and develop DSP/Algorithms

Python
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and PCBA
  • Experience with PCB component selection
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent tools for modeling and analysis
  • Experience on using test and measurement equipment like oscilloscopes, signal generators, arbitrary waveform generators, VNA, etc
