Internship, Fullstack Engineer, Build Infrastructure (Winter/Spring 2025)

Tesla is seeking a Fullstack Engineer Intern for their Build Infrastructure team for Winter/Spring 2025. This internship is part of Tesla's Vehicle Software division, located in Palo Alto, California. The intern will work on core build systems used by thousands of firmware engineers, implement new features in web-based tooling, and focus on building a distributed compute system.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working on core build systems used by thousands of firmware engineers
• Implementing new features in web-based tooling to enhance developer experiences
• Building a distributed compute system, running code on hundreds of bare metal & cloud servers
• Optimizing resources across the cluster and speeding up compute workloads

The ideal candidate should:

• Be pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date between 2025 - 2026
• Have excellent knowledge of modern programming languages (Golang, C++, Python, Rust, Ruby, etc.)
• Possess strong Linux knowledge
• Have experience with distributed compute systems or distributed architectures
• Be knowledgeable about messaging services (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, etc.)

This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the center of Tesla's firmware organization, exposing interns to a wide array of technical challenges and best practices in code hygiene, reuse, and maintainability. The internship is full-time (40 hours/week) for a minimum of 12 weeks, starting around January and continuing through April/May.
