Tesla is seeking Materials Engineering interns for Winter/Spring 2025 to join various teams including Additive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (Coatings), Materials Engineering (Polymers), Materials Test, Fastener Engineering, and Mechanical Design (Castings). This internship offers hands-on experience in cutting-edge materials engineering applications within the automotive industry. Interns will work full-time on-site, contributing to critical projects alongside experienced engineers. The role spans multiple areas including additive manufacturing, coatings development, polymer chemistry, materials testing, and mechanical design. Responsibilities For Internship, Materials Engineering (Winter/Spring 2025)

  • Support hands-on operation of Additive Manufacturing machines and post-processing
  • Collaborate with tool design engineers to develop and optimize parts
  • Characterize fabricated parts to understand defects and mechanical properties
  • Design and develop technically complex processes for finishing/coating products
  • Work on process development from concept to production
  • Conduct materials level testing across various materials
  • Support fastener engineering and joining methods optimization
  • Design, manufacture, and enhance high-pressure die casting dies

Requirements For Internship, Materials Engineering (Winter/Spring 2025)

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Materials Science or a related field
  • Proficient in 3D CAD tools and/or Simulation tools
  • Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, thermal, electrical, and physical properties of materials
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site
  • Minimum commitment of 12 weeks
