Description For Machine Learning Engineer, Residential Energy

The Data Science and Analytics team at Tesla's Residential Energy sector is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to drive data-driven innovation. This role involves creating and implementing data-driven products that inform decision-making across all facets of the Residential Energy Operations division. Key projects include developing machine learning systems for predicting labor needs, planning materials, project timeline forecasting, and optimizing installation efficiencies.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will:

  • Conduct incrementality, lift testing, and attribution modeling to optimize demand generation strategies
  • Collaborate across various functional and product lines to support Tesla residential energy offerings
  • Engage in complex problem-solving initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of residential energy products
  • Analyze customer behavior to predict order conversion and cancellation rates
  • Develop and implement descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive models
  • Execute causal inference analyses to evaluate the impact of operations programs
  • Maintain an organized workflow while managing multiple priorities and projects
  • Demonstrate strong technical acumen and an innovative mindset
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive data-driven decision-making
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in data science

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-4 years of professional experience as a Machine Learning Engineer
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in Python, including core libraries like NumPy and Pandas
  • Experience in deploying data pipelines for production software applications
  • Familiarity with machine learning libraries and statistical frameworks
  • Proficiency in version control systems and command-line operations
  • Skills in code testing methodologies
  • Understanding of data communication protocols and continuous integration tools

This role offers a competitive salary range of $108,000 - $186,000 annually, plus cash and stock awards, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with employer match, and various other perks and support programs.
