Description For Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer

Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer to join their innovative team in Fremont, California. This critical role involves simulating high-volume manufacturing and influencing part and process design to ensure world-class quality across all Tesla products. The role combines technical expertise in computational analysis and statistical data analysis with hands-on involvement in the entire product development cycle. You'll be working with state-of-the-art dimensional variation analysis software and collaborating with cross-functional teams including Styling, Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer

  • Dimensional CAE simulation using dedicated dimensional variation analysis software
  • Analyze and communicate dimensional requirements within engineering teams
  • Work with global manufacturing and supplier base
  • Mechanical design of vehicle systems from seats to battery packs and autopilot hardware
  • Cross-functional interaction with Styling, Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality teams
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) expertise

Requirements For Mechanical Design Analysis Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years' experience in Computer Aided Engineering, dimensional engineering, metrology, or CAE role
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Catia or similar CAD system experience
  • Comfortable with multi-variable capability analysis and statistical testing
  • Proficiency in 1D and 3D dimensional variation root cause analysis preferred
  • Familiarity GD&T and ASME Y14.5 preferred
