Tesla's Manufacturing Test Engineering group is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join their team focused on creating robust, data-centric production testing equipment. This role is part of Tesla's initiative to build the "machine that builds the machine," working on testing equipment for power electronic components in vehicles, stationary storage, humanoid robots, and charging products.

Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Semi

  • Architect automated test equipment, produce detailed-level CAD models
  • Conceptual equipment development and balance product specifications
  • Identify opportunities and implement performance improvements
  • Analyze system constraints and propose innovative solutions
  • Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts
  • Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery
  • Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of test equipment

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Automated Test Equipment, Semi

  • 2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer
  • Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
  • Knowledge in solid mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, dynamics, material selection, prototyping
  • Exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, robots, relays
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Versed in SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys, or similar CAD/CAE software
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
