Tesla is seeking a Glazing Design Engineer to join their innovative Vehicle Engineering Team. Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Glazing

  • Serve as a member of the Vehicle Engineering Team to support automotive glazing and closure system development
  • Conceptualize, design, engineer, and launch components for Glazing, Seals, and Trim products
  • Work with Autopilot, Interiors, Thermal, Antenna, Mechanisms, and Sealing Engineers to integrate components
  • Achieve innovation-driven closure system targets for appearance, function, quality, cost, and weight
  • Establish system level architecture and functionality based on market research and design feasibility
  • Participate in iterative process with Tesla design studio to deliver optimal balance of form and function
  • Optimize Glazing designs, including heater grids, coatings, and interlayers
  • Support manufacturing processes and glass stack selections
  • Optimize designs with appropriate analytical and physical assessments
  • Interpret/develop Tolerance Analysis, CAE, DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA simulations/results

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Glazing

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years industry experience working in consumer product design or related field
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling utilizing CATIA V5/V6 or similar
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles of various commodities
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, mechanics of materials
  • Experience working with cutting edge manufacturing technologies, especially related to glazing or ceramics (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the development of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&R's and other technical documents (preferred)
